Wedding Bells

Genesis 2:21-24 So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.  The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.”  That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.

Today is the Wedding Day of my oldest son, Scott, to his beloved fiancée Alia. Family is in town, the Rehearsal complete and all last minute issues worked out. The excitement has built and climaxed for the big ceremony of Holy Matrimony, where before God, this dear young man and woman will take their vows and become husband and wife in the Lord’s design.

Jesus said in Mark 10:6-8 “From the beginning of the creation, God ‘made them male and female.’ ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh.

Today, his mother & I rejoice in this blessed union by God’s design and celebrate the beginning of a new god-centered family; not the lose of a son, but the gain of a daughter – his wife for life. Praise be to God!

Ephesians 5:25-33 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— for we are members of his body. “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

In Christ, Brian

Thank you Child of God. We truly are blessed by the marriage of our son to his wife. It truly is a new chapter in all of our lives. Our daughter-in-law is a wonderful young lady and we are looking forward to what the Lord brings next to our story of this journey. It all begins now. May God get the glory and Christ ever be praised! Blessings.
