GET IN HERE

Isaiah 55:11So shall my Word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”

One of my favorite neon signs is the message in the front window of our pizza parlor of choice in Oakhurst, California called “Pizza Factory”, but everyone who has been around this gourmet pizzeria from its early days calls it “Danny’s”, after the original founder. Besides a “killer great” pizza, his sign stating simply: “GET IN HERE” shines the message of the “down home” atmosphere that keeps us coming back for more and more because beyond the quality taste is the quality of feeling that you “belong”.

This is exactly the same quality that we strive for every Friday, in our small group home Bible Study Fellowship. If you are not a member of some Small group, Sunday school or mid-week Bible Study group, I encourage you to “get in here”! Seek and find a group in your church, or in your neighborhood, or at a friends. Then you shall see and feel the warmth and strength of learning the Word and doing the Ways of the Lord together with Christian brothers and sisters in a homey “belonging” ambiance.  Make it a part of your personal spiritual growth, just like church attendance, personal devotion and prayer time, reading your bible, et cetera in pursuing the virtuous life of the growing child of God, with the people of God. If you were looking for a sign, here it is: “GET IN HERE” and start feeling the love.

2 Timothy 3:14-17But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

In Christ, Brian

Hi Brian,

Even in the early hours of this morning, the pizza sounds wonderful! :)

Fellowship is such an important part of our faith. Coming together to support one another is an experience that allows us to learn, gain strength, and show the world exactly what God is. Great post!

Blessings and love,
Denise

Hi Brian,
Small group studies are great and I miss the one I use to attend. I am a part of a couple of prayer groups which are amazing but studying Scripture with brothers and sisters is always so precious.

The pizza sounds delish.

Blessings brother,

Thanks for the comment Denise. Fellowship of Believers is friendship within the context of Christ-centered Koinonia (a Greek word (κοινωνία) that means communion by intimate participation). Wikipedia explains that it identifies the idealized state of fellowship and community that should exist within the Christian Church. As you so rightly stated: a "coming together to support one another is an experience that allows us to learn, gain strength, and show the world exactly what God is." I like that! Blessings.

Child of God, your prayer group is surely a vital, active and relevant element of "walking in the Spirit" life. I tried to articulate that the Christian life is multi-faceted is the opportunities to minister and be ministered to. To live for Christ is surely not what we do, as much as it is who we are. "Get In Here" is an invitation for those who do not know the Lord to take the steps to find forgiveness and saving faith at the foot of the Cross, and for those who know the Lord to enthusiastically take it to the next level of spiritual growth towards maturity in a loving community of brothers and sister in Christ. The God-life (saved by grace through faith) truly is the Good life. Thanks for the great comments.
