Mark 12:13-17 Then they sent to Him (Jesus) some of the Pharisees and the Herodians,
to catch Him in His words. When they had come,
they said to Him, “Teacher, we know that You are true, and care about no one;
for You do not regard the person of men, but teach the way of God in truth. Is
it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not? Shall we pay, or
shall we not pay?” But He, knowing their hypocrisy, said to them, “Why do you test Me? Bring Me a
denarius that I may see it.” So they brought it. And He
said to them, “Whose
image and inscription is this?” They said to Him,
“Caesar’s.” And Jesus answered and said to them, “Render to Caesar the things that are
Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” And they marveled at
Him.
Three standard inscriptions on every American coin are (1) Liberty , (2) E Pluribis
Unum (From many, One), and (3) In God We Trust. America was founded as a Christian
nation, self-governed in a democratic republic. “We hold these truths to be
self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their
Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit
of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among
Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.” One of the
privileges of a “Free” nation is the right to vote for their government
representatives. With America ’s
Election Day upon us, our Pastor’s Sunday Sermon focused on the Christian vote
and the Christian influence on their society, in light of the above Bible
passage. The big questions is: “What are the things that are God’s” and “Are we
giving what’s God’s to God?” The Child of God need to live as citizens of the
kingdom of Heaven, faithful to Who we belong to and aligning our will and way
with the Lord’s. What is really important? Christians need to reinforce
biblical values, not redefine them, and take God’s values everywhere, including
the “Voting Booth”.

6:8 “He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to
love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?
During the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln overheard
someone remark that he hoped “the Lord was on the Union ’s
side.” Lincoln
gave this straightforward reply: “Sir, I am not at all concerned about that,
for I know that the Lord is always on the side of the right. But it is my
constant anxiety and prayer that I and this nation should be on the Lord’s
side.” The same is true on “Election Day”. In being an Ambassador for Christ (2
Corinthians 5:20), whose nation do we belong and are loyal to? Who and what are
we committed to? Don’t miss the point. The real Ruler in the world is Jesus
Christ and His kingdom. Do not be influenced by the insignificance of what
secular man believes is significant. Citizen of heaven, never participate in
issues that a child of God has no business thinking about, talking about or
doing. Which world do we belong to?
Never be put into the bondage of sin by making decisions against the
will of God. Are the things that break God’s heart, breaking our heart?
We are made in the image of God. Whose image is on your
heart? Are the things that matter to God, matter to us? Our Creator Lord has
called upon our lives to stand with Him and for Him. In this country, we have
liberty to vote for God and
His values. Don’t lose your voice in this dark and lost culture. Get out and
vote, and make a difference.
Romans 12:1-2 “Therefore,
I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer
your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your
spiritual act of worship. Do
not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your
mind. Then you will be able to test and approve
what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

I like what Lincoln said and I agree. God will do His will. I plan to pray and vote.
God's got my vote!
No matter what God wins. He is always in control and He will use whoever is in office. I do hope and pray the most godly man is voted in, one that will honour God's commandments.

Nice point Ma. God will do His will, and that may not be our will ... the Lord may not be on either side of an election. God will do His will. We need to seek His will. I like that.
Underground Pewster, It was a good to hear the foundational truth that God and His Holy Word is the goal. Sometimes, that gets foggy and lost in the political hype and hoopla of election campaigns and propaganda. God's got my vote too!
Child of God, We know that God is always in control, even when mortal mankind assumes political power. Defying God and His word leads to judgement and consequences. The question isn't about the "most godly", but about "totally committed to God". It is my prayer that the Lord reveal Himself to the President and the President elect loyally follow the Lord as his King.
Hi Cheryl, I'm happy that you came by my Blog and left a comment. With the split in the national vote, it's similar to the differing views that happen over history. President Lincoln's quote is needed and necessary across the ages of time. And Pastor Jason's Sermon was timely for the day, but also in day to day living. Who and what we live for drives our thoughts, words and actions in life. The proper perspective is a clear blessing. Knowing and servicing the Lord is the foundation that all godly branches grow from. Thank you and God's peace for you and me.
