Daniel 11:32 “The people
who know their God shall stand firm and take action.”
Our weekly small
group Bible Study started a new topical study of the character attributes of
God: knowing God for equipping ourselves for life and for making Him known to
others. We do not always see that much of the confusion and pain, uncertainty
and wrong directions in life come because we do not know God. We may know about
Him or may know what others say about Him, but do we know what God says about
Himself, who He really is and how He conducts Himself in the affairs of
mankind? A true understanding of God’s character leads not just to enabling Believers to have and display strength in times of stress and to stand firm with
confidence in the face of opposition, or just knowledge that our Maker (the God
of the universe) is always in control and in personal relationship with us (a
relationship that will carry you through any situation and any circumstance of
life), but also leads to action based upon knowing God, His ways and His love
of us. What an awesome truth!
Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the
earth.”
There is so much
truth packed into the first ten words of the Bible, the living and inspired
Word of God. First and foremost, “in the beginning God”, nothing and no
one else. And not the singular form of Almighty God, “El” is used in this verse,
but ‘אלהים' elohiym, which is the plural form of God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit and
authenticated in verse 26 when God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness.” The
Trinity, our Triune God, was “in the beginning”. In Exodus 3:14 God tells Moses
His name is “I AM”, ‘היה’ hayah –YHWH (Yahweh or Jehovah), which means “I exist or
be”. He is the self-existent, self-sufficient, eternal God.
Secondly, “in the
beginning God created”. Everything from nothing, God spoke the physical
universe into existence. Genesis
1:31-2:1 And
God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there
was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. Thus the heavens and
the earth were finished, and all the host of them. God, the Son, created.
John 1:2-3 tells us: “He (Jesus Christ) was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any
thing made that was made.” Hebrews 1:10 proclaims: “You, Lord,
laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are
the work of your hands.” Colossians 1:16 declares: “For by Him
all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and
invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things
were created through Him and for Him.”
In the beginning God … Psalm 90:2 “Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever You had formed
the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.” Created the heavens and the earth … Psalm
19:1 “The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His
handiwork.”
Revelation
4:11 “You are worthy, O Lord, to
receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and by Your will
they exist and were created.” Glory to God!
In Christ, Brian

Master I AM that I AM.
Sometime when I pray I address Father this way. It just seems to cover all of Him, all His names and Who He is.
I have a book called The 365 Names of God by John Paul Jackson. When I read this I feel mighty power from Him. Just saying His many names releases understanding into my heart. Here is a link of a YouTube video of JP Jackson reading the names. It is nicely done.

Child of God, For sure knowing God and getting to know Him more is one of the greatest blessing that there is. Thinking about our Heavenly Father, who He is, what He did, What He is doing today drives us in godly efforts and desires. God's names reflect His attributes and ultimate sovereign power. Thank you for sharing the YouTube link for everyone to view. Blessings sister.
