Matthew 1:20-23 But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to
him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your
wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had
spoken by the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they
shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).
Truth is
essential in any authentic relationship. Therefore it is important for us to
understand that all have sinned, how sin has consequences, and how the penalty
for our sins can be paid in full by Christ alone. He was made sin for us and
died in our place to save us from hell. But do we understand how He could pay
for our sins? What made Jesus’ atoning sacrifice acceptable to God? Why was He
able to die as our substitute? So many today need to hear and know this, and this
is where our Small Group Bible Study picked up from last week in our study of
having a real relationship with God.
2 Corinthians 5:21 “For
He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God
in Him.”
In
order to be our substitute , Jesus had to be without sin. This is why, in God
perfect plan of salvation, Jesus was conceived in Mary with no “original sin”
from the Holy Spirit. If He were born in sin or if He committed sin, He would
have had to die for His own sins, because the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). In the Old Testament book
of Leviticus, verse 17:11 tells us that without the shedding of blood there can
be no remission (or taking away) of sin. Until the death of Jesus Christ,
animals were sacrificed and their blood
was used to cover man’s sin. John 1:29 “The next day John
saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”
Romans 4:25 “He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our
justification.”
Our
Creator, Father in Heaven, Lord God, out of the grace of His mercy and love,
sent His Son to pay our debt – the sin of the world, past, present and future. Jesus
took our transgressions and we put on His righteousness by the covering of His
blood, and thereby justified, declared not guilty and acquitted on “lack of
evidence”. Amazing grace. Our Savior willfully received what He did not
deserve, so that we would not receive what we deserve and that we would receive
what we did not deserve. And the proof that Christ’s propitiation was an
acceptable payment in full for our sins is that His resurrection from the dead.
Praise be to God! Do we have reason to rejoice and give God our worship; to
give the Lord all the glory and honor; to give our Redeemer our dedication and
devotion?
Romans
5:15-20 “For if by the one man’s
offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the
one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many. And the gift is not like that which came through the one who
sinned. For the judgment which came from one offense resulted in condemnation, but the
free gift which came from many offenses resulted in justification. For if by the one man’s
offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of
grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One,
Jesus Christ.) Therefore,
as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one
Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in
justification of life. For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so
also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.” Jesus Christ, our Savior is Jehovah. Jesus saves! Hallelujah!

Thank you Jesus for being willing to pay the price for us. If you didn't do it there could be no other that could qualify.

Know this truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, is worth rejoicing about. Thank you sisters-in-Christ for your up-lifting comments. Blessings!
Thank you for this biblical study. I love it. It is an amazing grace that God Himself a lamb for sacrifice sought and that in this way there is salvation for all who flights to Him.
Greetings and have a fine day
